University Squads

SB Womxn's

Hi there!

We are the Cambridge University’s women’s and non-binary Ultimate team. Anyone who identifies as a woman or otherwise feels that competing in the women’s division is most appropriate for them can join our squad. You are welcome to attend our training no matter your level of experience, whether you’ve never played or even heard of the game before or you’re a seasoned Ultimate veteran!

We have one outdoor practices per week (Tuesday evenings) which last 2h, and one 2h indoor session on Thursdays. Both sessions are open to all!

We compete outdoors in the BUCS league with 2 Saturday fixtures spread over Michaelmas and Lent terms, through which we qualify for Nationals (split into divisions 1 and 2). BUCS team selections will be made 2-3 weeks before a tournament. 

We also play at the UKU University indoor tournaments where we will be entering 1-2 teams depending on our squad size this year and everyone gets to play competitive Ultimate. To compete with us you are required to be a registered student at the University of Cambridge.

SB Open

SBO (Strange Blue Open) is the open team for Cambridge University that competes against other universities. We run weekly outdoor and indoor training sessions to prepare for regular BUCS matches and occasional weekend tournaments throughout the year.

Our team is open to everyone and very welcoming. We aim to create a fun training environment to help players to improve their game at all levels of experience and will select a smaller squad to represent the university and compete against other university teams. Depending on interest, we will likely hold trials for our weekly training session at the beginning of Michaelmas.

SB Mixed

Everybody plays in the mixed division, with lines being split between male matching players and female matching players.

Scattered throughout the year are some fun indoor tournaments, and at the end of the year we play outdoor nationals (which is the best tournament of the year)

 Everyone is welcome in the Mixed squad, and we are low commitment! We don't have official dedicated trainings in first term (except for a handful of selective indoor trainings - and maybe a couple of outdoor sessions). Keep your eyes peeled for Lent though for some outdoor Mixed.

Mixed is the best part of frisbee and alongside being fun to play, it also has a great, friendly, social atmosphere.
