Competition Format
There are 16 teams in the competition split into 2 divisions. Each of these is then split into 2 peer pools of 4. Each team will play the other teams in their pool (3 games). After this, there will be crossovers to allow teams on the boundary between divisions to move up or down, followed by quarters, semis and finals to determine the finishing positions within each division.
After the group stage, use your finishing position within your group to determine you seeding for the crossover & knockout stages - ie. if you came first in Group B you would be seeded 2nd, the teams that comes third in Group C would be 13th. When a team with the lower seeding team wins a match, the teams swap seedings.
Each team will have two games to play within 2 weeks. On the alternate saturdays (the days the games are scheduled to be on), the ARU pitches on Whitehouse Lane will be available (off Huntingdon Rd), so people can play their two matches per fortnight in one go, though captains are still welcome to organise games on their own pitches. Email Babyface (peter
tyalyn.org) if you want to use the ARU pitches· Using public spaces for games is strongly discouraged, especially after heavy rain.
Rules for College League
The rules for these games are the WFDF 2009 rules, with the following differences:- One woman rule
Each team must have one woman on each line for every point. If this is not possible, the team plays with one less person (i.e. six men v six men + one woman).
If both captains agree, you may choose not to enforce this rule. - Hard Cap at 13 points
This means that game is over as soon as a team scores their thirteenth point. - 60 minute time limit
Time runs from when the first "pull" of the match is released. When the time limit is reached, someone calls out "Time" loudly so that everyone playing can hear. Continue playing until the next point is scored. - 1 point Soft Cap
After "Time" has been called, and the point finished, add 1 point to the highest score. Continue playing points, the game finishes when one team reaches this target.
